Awake From Your Slumber!
"Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:19).
God is doing a new thing in the earth and He wants us to partner with Him to accomplish His desire in and through us. During my prayer time this week, the Lord spoke to me and said, "The church has allowed the world to lull it to sleep." This broke my heart. The body of Christ has been praying so long for a "great awakening" and yet we've allowed the world to lull (silence or hush) us to sleep. Shouldn't this "great awakening" begin with us, His children...the victorious Body of Christ?
The church, in general, has allowed idols to drift in like never before, and boy do we cling to them. We wear our idols like they're a right of passage or our trustworthy suit of armor. We have allowed idols of pride, church hurt, fear, gossip, jealousy, competition, self-preservation, appearances, distractions of every kind, and divisions of an enormous scale to creep in to govern our every thought and move. We care more about what we look like on the outside, than what we look like on the inside. We prepare our hair more than our hearts when heading to the church house. God help us!
Where are the prostrate believers? Those that are willing to become "...even more undignified than this..." (2 Samuel 6:22). Where are the "groaners?" If the earth is groaning for HIS return (Romans 8:22), how much more should we, His children, be groaning in our prayer life? Why do we continue to let the rocks cry out for us? God forgive us!
Repentance is necessary! In fact, it's vital if we want to see revival...a truly "great awakening" in our nation. "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite (sincere remorse) heart— These, O God, You will not despise." (Psalms 51:17). We cannot be complacent with our Christian walk any longer. We can no longer be apathetic (lack of interest, concern, or excitement) for what God is doing in our lives and across the earth. It's time church! It's time that we choose to wake up individually first, and then corporately...our own hearts, our homes and families, our church houses, our marketplaces, our cities, our nation, the nations. We cannot do church as usual anymore. Life is not the same, and nor will it ever be. It's time to quit expecting our pastors to take us into revival. Our prayers should be, "Lord, let revival start in me."
This blog is not meant to be harsh, but it is meant to be direct. God's Word tells us, "Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved." (Matthew 9:17). We need to repent of the status quo (existing state) and return to our first "true" love. God wants us to "rend our hearts, not our garments..." (Joel 2:13). I pray this word speaks to your heart. I pray that it awakens you out of your slumber to draw closer to God, to go deeper in His Word, to seek His face more than His hand, and to align your heart perfectly with His heart for you.
"And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed." (Romans 13:11)
