Distractions

Updated: May 19, 2022

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much more as you see the Day approaching."

~ Hebrews 10:23-25

As I was spending time this morning reading my Bible and seeking God's heart for various things, I heard the Holy Spirit say, "They are all distractions. They are all sent out to distract from the most important thing, which is Jesus' soon return."

If we allow our focus to be on the things of this world...the hate, lack of identity, disregard for human life, divisions and disagreements of every kind to take our focus, we are not diligently awaiting, or preparing, for Jesus' return.

Jesus is returning soon and it's time we get ready and stay ready. We can't let this out-of-control, chaotic world distract us from what we should be doing. Distractions are everywhere and they so easily pull us from what our focus should be on.

I can't fix this world or the people in it. However, I can, and do, pray often for it and them. Scripture tells us how we ought to behave in 1 Thessalonians Chapter 5 as the Day of the Lord approaches. I hope you take the time to read it for yourself.

Jesus is returning! That statement is a fact. Let us not get so distracted with the things of this life that we neglect what's most important...seeking God's heart on what we should be doing to prepare ourselves and others for His glorious return.

"For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words."

~ 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
